Our culture of safety starts with a commitment to standards of behaviors across our entire network. We begin with strict owner-operator qualification requirements. We also provide safety orientation and ongoing training opportunities for both agents and owner-operators leased to Landstar. However, our safety-first culture extends far beyond that.
Landstar Safety Officers (LSOs) are designated at every independent agency, and they support us in providing education, training and awareness programs.
Initiatives like Mutual Understanding of Safety Together (M.U.S.T.) bring Landstar’s safety team, sales agents and customers together to create safety solutions to address unique customer situations.
And, our monthly Safety Thursday conference calls – which started in 1991 -- bring together employees, agents, owner-operators, customers and law enforcement agencies to discuss safety practices.
