Donations to the Landstar BCO Benevolence Fund hit a record high in 2024. Thank you to the Landstar BCOs, agents and employees who generously contributed more than $146,200 last year to the fund, which helps independent owner-operators in times of hardship or emergency.

Awardees of the fund use the financial assistance to cover unexpected medical bills, health and insurance costs, or funeral expenses. In 2024, just over $153,000 in aid was distributed to 46 qualified recipients. Unforeseen medical-related costs comprised 72% of the funds awarded, 7% was for financial help related to death and 21% was for other needed assistance.

Donations are collected at Landstar BCO Appreciation events throughout the year, where attendees can participate in Benevolence Fund Bingo and bid on donated auction items sold to help grow contributions.

Landstar BCOs, and truck operators employed by Landstar BCOs, and their immediate family members are eligible to apply to receive assistance from the fund. A selection committee evaluates all qualified applications and allocates funds.
