This isn’t just any Peterbilt. This is a 1995 Peterbilt 378 with a rare Double Eagle sleeper — a sleeper model discontinued 13 years ago. Its engine is pristine, courtesy of nearly three decades spent only getting to and from truck shows. Its paint is still original, as are its tear-drop-shaped windows and tiled floor.

Landstar BCO Willie Flores arranged to have the one-of-a-kind cab shipped all the way from its United Kingdom-based garage and across the ocean to him in Dallas, Texas.

It was true love that inspired the purchase – love of the truck for sure, but really it was the love of his wife, Magdalena, that moved Flores.

Before the couple met in 2013, Magdalena had recurring dreams about “being with a truck driver who taught her to drive.” After four years together, Flores did teach her to drive, thanks to encouragement from a mentor who told them to “go live their dreams.”

Then, in 2021, Flores found a Facebook listing for a 1995 Peterbilt in the UK, and he just had to show Magdalena. Not only was it in excellent condition, but one key detail captivated them both: the “Livin’ the Dream” decal on the back.

“We give God all the glory,” Flores said about the find that made dreams come true for the couple. “And the truck is immaculate. It’s a showstopper.”

After two weeks spent crossing the ocean, the truck was driven to Louisville, Kentucky, to debut at the 2023 Mid-America Trucking Show in its first US-based competition. The unique cab took first place in the bobtail category.

Under a load, the Flores drive a 2019 Western Star, but when the workday is done, the couple dreams about winning more truck beauty competitions with their 1995 showstopper.
