Landstar Honors Three Executives for Empowering the Landstar Network

Landstar awarded three longtime executive team members with its highest employee achievement awards at the 2025 Landstar Agent Convention in April.

Landstar Outstanding Management Achievement Award

Vice President of Safety and Compliance Shelly Seaton and Executive Vice President of the Southern Field Division Justin Norman were each honored with a Landstar Outstanding Management Achievement Award. Landstar senior management nominates candidates for this award based on effective leadership, managerial skills, significant contributions in the sales, operations or administrative areas, and improved efficiencies and growth for Landstar’s network of independent business capacity owners (BCOs), Landstar’s term for independent truck owner-operators leased to a Landstar motor carrier.

“Shelly has continuously contributed to improvements in safety and compliance for our BCOs and other third-party capacity providers, as well as the industry,” said Landstar President and CEO Frank Lonegro during the award presentation. “During her long tenure here, she has tirelessly supported Landstar’s safety-first culture.”
As theft and fraud have been on the rise in the transportation industry, Seaton has implemented initiatives to mitigate risk for BCOs and agents. She has collaborated with departments to put stricter theft and fraud prevention protocols in place and keep Landstar’s independent business owners informed of trends. In addition, Seaton has instituted a monthly “Compliance Hour” conference call for BCOs, which is aimed at educating listeners on evolving federal guidelines.

Since joining Landstar in 1995, Seaton has helped lead the safety team. Starting as a compliance clerk, she worked her way up to supervisor of qualifications, manager of claims, director of safety services and vice president of loss prevention before she was named to her current position in 2022.

Norman joined Landstar in 2005, and joined the sales team in 2008, rising through the ranks. In 2019, he was named to his current position, overseeing all Landstar field sales personnel in the company’s Southern division. In this role, Norman works with Landstar agents and other employees throughout the southeastern U.S. to promote growth opportunities, increase revenue and recruit new agents to Landstar.

“While Justin assists agents looking to grow customer accounts, he has taken that to the next level,” said Lonegro. “Justin has been an integral part of improvements that have led to growth, profitability and customer loyalty.”

Jeffrey C. Crowe-Robert E. Zonneville Lifetime Achievement Award

President of Landstar System Holdings, Inc. Joe Beacom received the Jeffrey C. Crowe-Robert E. Zonneville Lifetime Achievement Award. The honor, first presented by Landstar 30 years ago, is awarded to an employee who not only succeeds at Landstar, but also helps others succeed along the way.

Beacom joined Landstar in 1993 and has served as an executive officer since 2006, when he became the vice president and chief safety, security and compliance officer. In 2011, Beacom was named the vice president and chief safety and operations officer of Landstar. During his 13 years in that role, Beacom was responsible for the company’s safety performance, operations and capacity development consistent with Landstar’s values of safety and security, independence, quality service and opportunity. During his career with Landstar, he has been integral in the overall growth and development of third-party truck capacity solutions at Landstar. In particular, Beacom has played an essential role for the past two decades as a leader of Landstar’s safety culture and in overseeing BCO qualifications, onboarding compliance and operations, as well as BCO recognition and retention.

“Joe Beacom has worked diligently with the executive leadership team to help accelerate the Company’s unique business model and drive many of our strategic initiatives,” said Lonegro. “This lifetime achievement award is in recognition of his long-standing commitment to Landstar, its customers, agents, capacity providers and employees.”
