Landstar Employees Give Back in 2024

Landstar employees strive to support good causes throughout the year with fundraising and volunteer campaigns for various charitable organizations. In 2024, their initiatives raised donations of thousands of items and dollars for their communities.

Unite For Tomorrow

This year, Landstar’s Jacksonville, Florida and Rockford, Illinois locations surpassed internal fundraising goals for United Way of Northeast Florida and the United Way of Rock River Valley. Total donated funds reached nearly $47,000 for this year's campaign, Unite for Tomorrow. Employees’ donations help to fund innovative solutions for basic needs, emergency financial services, childhood literacy, and economic well-being programs for underserved communities.

Santa's Helpers

Being in the transportation services industry, Landstar employees love to deliver – especially during the holidays. For the past 18 years, generous employees at the Jacksonville headquarters raised money and donated Christmas bicycles for children at the Child Guidance Center (CGC). According to its website, the CGC has been helping children and families with support services in northern Florida since 1951. This year, employees donated 114 new bikes and 30 helmets to be delivered by Landstar organizer Sid Sutphin, other volunteers and Business Capacity Owner (BCO) Maurice Jones in time for the holidays.

Landstar also partnered with the CGC for its Angel Tree program in Jacksonville. Employees collected gifts and monetary donations for the Christmas wish lists of 120 children in need. Additionally, employees donated cash to buy gift cards and gifts for the children of the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) program. Thanks to their donations of over 230 items, more children will have toys and the warm clothing they need for the holidays.

Driving Change

Throughout 2024, both Jacksonville and Rockford locations participate in various donation drives. These drives help raise food, supplies and life-saving medical aid for their communities.

During the weeks leading to Thanksgiving, the Jacksonville location worked to provide local families with enough food to celebrate. This year’s food drive raised 1,323 cans of food and monetary donations for Feeding Northeast Florida, the area's largest food bank.

Additionally, Landstar employees teamed up to ensure students in their communities had what they needed for a successful school year. Between Jacksonville and Rockford, supply drives have collected hundreds of folders, notebooks, crayons and backpacks for underprivileged students at Jacksonville’s Holiday Hill Elementary and Rockford’s Riverdahl Elementary.

Throughout the year, employee blood drives with OneBlood in Jacksonville and Rock River Valley Blood Center in Rockford resulted in employees donating enough blood to potentially save over 300 lives.

In addition, Landstar and its employees provide monetary donations or volunteer hours to the following organizations:
