February 23, 2000 Jacksonville, FL - Landstar System, Inc., a safety-first transportation services company, announced today the promotion of Sid Sutphin to Director of Applications Development in the company's Information Services Department. In his new position, Sutphin will direct Landstar's application development staff, the group responsible for all internal application development.

Sutphin joined Landstar in 1994 as a Senior Programmer Analyst. He was promoted to Product Development Manager in 1996 and in 1998 he helped guide the conversion of a company subsidiary to the main system.
Sutphin served more than 11 years in the United States military, including his last assignment as Communication's Operations Officer and Captain in the Georgia Airforce National Guard. He earned his Bachelors of Information Systems from the University of North Florida, and is currently working toward a Masters of Business Administration.
